Rockit opens its doors to family and friends

to come into our classrooms and watch a class demonstration.

Twice per year, Rockit hosts ‘Open Week’. This takes place at the end of term 1 and term 4. We encourage students family and friends to attend and learn how our classes are run.

THE PURPOSE OF OPEN WEEK

As parents don’t get the chance to sit in the classroom and watch class on a weekly basis, we open the studio doors and welcome everyone inside. During this time, you will have a chance to see what happens during class.

Teachers will demonstrate the various exercises students perform each week and explain the purpose for them. There will also be a short demonstration of a performance routine they have been working on.

In term 1 you will see an incomplete routine. This is because students are still in the process of learning material in preparation for the mid-year concert. What we want you to see is where a routine starts, and how far it is then developed when it is performed at the concert.

In term 4, you will see a shorter routine. This is simply due to the shorter time period of class before the final open week in December.

"Rockit is my second home. It is a place where I can feel welcomed, included and loved. I can be myself there".
Angela, Rockit Student

WHAT HAPPENS DURING OPEN WEEK

For one week only, all classes come together and perform as one group. This is to allow parents to see a number of classes in one sitting. It also allows the opportunity for you to see the growth development from the youngest to eldest classes.

Students will get to meet other students of varying age within the studio. They will get to see what other classes are working on and can be there to cheer and support each other.

During open week, we encourage families to arrive 5 minutes before the showing commences. Families will be able to sit at the front of the studio to watch the students perform. Please note, we are not able to bring chairs into the studio, you will be seated on the floor.
