At Rockit we are all about community. We know that.....

DANCE, SINGING AND DRAMA = Community Connection

Rockit is proving every day the benefits the performing arts can have on our wider community. We use dance, drama and singing to target different community groups and bring people together.

We work closely with the Mount Barker District Council, the Mount Barker Community Library, the Eastern Mavericks Basketball Association, the Mount Barker Community Centre and the Heathfield Renegades to delivery a variety of community events.

"You and your staff are so wonderful and what you have created over the years
will create a generation of caring people with empathy towards everyone in the community"
Kathy, Rockit Mum

KING OF THE HILL

ALL STYLE BATTLE

Every year Rockit hosts the 'King of the Hill' All Style battle.

Dancers trained in breakdance, krumping, whaacking, popping, locking and hip hop come to our studio to compete for the title, respect and prize money.

The most incredible dance battle and youth event in the Adelaide Hills.

TOP OF THE TRIBE

STUDENT DANCE BATTLE

Rockit hosts an annual internal dance battle for our students to compete in. This is the ultimate dance showdown where students show off their favourite skills with a touch of sass for entertainment.

For these performers, this is their moment in the spotlight with a roaring crowd cheering them on for support.

Hosted in the spirit of fun and support, this is the perfect opportunity for students to get their first taste of solo performing. It is wonderful for building self-esteem, resilience and creativity. Check with our calendar for this year's date.

MOUNT BARKER CHRISTMAS PAGEANT

We truly adore the Mount Barker Christmas pageant. Acclaimed as the largest community pageant in the Adelaide hills, our Rockits and their families dance and sing the entire way with great excitement on their faces.

The opportunity to perform in this pageant makes them feel like superstars as they hear their names screamed out from the sidelines with friends and family recognising them along the way. You would think students would be exhausted after dancing for so long, but no, they are so exhilarated by the pageant, they continue to dance the whole way home.

All students are welcome to participate in the pageant each year. It runs on the first Saturday of December departing from the Mount Barker Oval and finishing on Walker St.

NURSING HOME PROGRAM

This is a unique dance and connection program designed to cater for those residing in nursing homes.

"This is the most dynamic program I have seen operated within a nursing home. It has great positive outcomes".

Mark Bednall, Director, Andrewartha Nursing Home

"This is the only social activity I don't have to bribe the residents to attend.

They line up at the door to ensure they don't miss the class".

Resident Volunteer

BRIDGE THE GAP PROGRAM

Connecting nursing home residents with school age children in a meaningful way.

In 2016 this program was awarded Runner Up in the Intergenerational Award category for the COTA Positive Ageing Awards. A huge honour for our studio.

"These dance classes mean to much to me. I just love being able to dance each week
and sing along to my favourite songs. It makes my day and keeps me going".
Millie (Resident)
